James R. Olson

Jim Olson is the County Attorney for Brown County, Minnesota. Mr. Olson, together with Assistant Brown County Attorneys, has felony charging authority for the State of Minnesota in Brown County. In addition to his prosecutorial responsibilities, Mr. Olson serves as the civil attorney for the Brown County Board. Mr. Olson also practices in the areas of insurance law, personal injury, litigation, appellate practice, and family law.
Mr. Olson was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, on October 22, 1944. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Mary's College in 1966 and a Juris Doctor Degree from
De Paul University in 1969. Mr. Olson was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar in 1972 and the United States District Court, District of Minnesota, in 1973. He served as an Assistant Brown County Attorney from 1972 to 1985. Mr. Olson became the County Attorney for Brown County in 1985. Mr. Olson is a member of the Brown County, Ninth Judicial District, Minnesota State and American Bar Associations.
